I Love Turmeric. It has been used for centuries in Ayurvedic practice for its anti-inflammatory effects and the benefits have been clinically tested time and time again; so much so that it’s now a very popular supplement. However, if we consider food as medicine and supplements as being that which we use in acute situations, finding ways to build turmeric into your day is a beautiful habit to practice and very safe for most to do.
This smoothie has been created so that you have an easy and delicious means of getting more turmeric into your day. It's called the ‘Liver Loving Smoothie’ because among many of its benefits, turmeric offers support for both Phase I and II liver detox.
Each smoothie contains ½ tsp turmeric, providing 100mg of the active ingredient; curcumin (I recommend looking for an organic version of turmeric powder as quality plays a big part in the availability of curcumin).
If considering a turmeric supplement, I recommend consulting with a healthcare professional to determine if it's an appropriate option for you.
Liver Loving Smoothie
Ingredients (Serves 1)
1 small mango or ½ large mango
3 tbsp organic hemp powder
1 tbsp chia seeds
½ cup organic canned coconut milk
¼ cup Coco Quench coconut milk
¼ cup water
¼ tsp vanilla essence
½ - 1 tsp organic turmeric powder
Handful of ice
Add ingredients to the blender and blend until smooth.
Check the consistency. For a runnier consistency add a small handful of ice and/or water until you’ve reached the desired consistency.
I recommend starting with ½ tsp of turmeric powder and building up to 1 tsp as your taste buds accomodate.
