Episode 34: The Practice of Yoga for Pregnancy and Birthing With Jennalea McInnes

This week I interview Jennalea McInnes - Earth-Loving, Kettle-bell Swinging - Yogi, Health-Hacking, Ocean-Obsessed, Dark-Chocolate-Advocate Yoga Teacher and Holistic Clinical Nutritionist.

Jennalea explains the benefits of yoga throughout pregnancy and leading into labour including strength, mobility and pain management. We talk about how a yoga practice might evolve over the course of pregnancy including the postures and breath work that mightn’t be suitable for pregnancy and those that should be prioritised. If yoga isn’t your movement of choice then that’s ok, we also discuss considerations for broader movement plans in pregnancy including running and weight lifting.

If you’re pregnant or planning on becoming pregnant then you may be interested in learning more about Bend With Baby - an online course for the expecting parent designed to help mothers feel prepared during each trimester for a healthy, mobile, strong and mindful pregnancy!
